What the Experts

More and more industry experts are
recognizing the benefits of buying refurbished hardware. The following
are selected quotes:
The refurbished marketplace:

much emphasis on cutting costs - that secondary market hardware is now a
mainstream business." - Scott Berinato, CIO
Magazine
"We don't buy new equipment"
- Byron Goodwin, CIO of Associated Food Stores, who recently saved 50%
on the purchase of storage systems
"There's a new way for CIOs to get good stuff cheap.
The secondary market for information technology has ballooned from a
marginal curiosity to a force to be reckoned with."
- Abbie Lundberg, Editor In Chief, CIO.com
"The services developing to support the secondary
market are making it easier and less frightening for buyers to
participate. Soon CIOs won't be able to imagine not having used as an
option." - Scott Berinato, CIO Magazine
"Now that [executive management] sees this channel,
they expect me to be there." Samuel Brooks,
MIS Director of Keystone Property Management

The benefits of refurbished equipment
"In two years, we've driven out a quarter of our
operational costs... A large part of that savings has been leveraging
the secondary market" - Bill Hauser, CIO of
Tenneco Automotive

says Malcom Fields, CIO at Hon Industries, a $1.8 billion office
furniture manufacturer. He calls it his fiduciary responsibility. He
